FAQ

“The first step is always the hardest”, says a well-known proverb – fortunately this is not so true for Aikido! “All beginnings have an inherent magic”, seems more accurate. Because once you have started and got involved with this fascinating matter, you can hardly leave it alone …

To make the start as pleasant as possible for you, here is some information:

  1. The trial training is free of charge and without obligation; you will receive the registration form when you come back.
  2. You can come by at any time, with or without pre-registration.
  3. General age limit: 14 years and older (exceptions by arrangement, juniors need a declaration of consent from their parents or guardians; please bring them to the training to get to know each other)
  4. If you do not want to come alone, bring your friends, parents, guardians etc. with you (Aikido is suitable for people of all ages).
  5. In Aikido it is common that beginners and experienced students practice together. This is intentional, so you do not “disturb” – on the contrary.
  6. If you just want to watch, that is of course also okay. We are happy having spectators.
  7. If you have any questions: Always tell us! Just ask the teacher or the trainers on site or contact us here.
  8. Aikido is by definition no sport. Nevertheless, martial arts training is connected with physical activity. So there is also a risk of injury. If you follow the instructions of your teacher attentively, it is minimal!

An example: Our dojo-cho, Fritz Schneeberger, once sprained a finger slightly, nothing more happened to him since he started with Aikido in 2002 during and outside of training. Aikido also prevents the general risk of injury.

ATTENTION: If you are not sure whether you have the physical requirements for training, please consult a doctor in advance. Furthermore, you have to inform the training about existing chronic diseases, allergies or the regular intake of medication. The instructions of the trainer must always be followed. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility. Legal and illegal drugs have no place in our training!

Equipment for “first offenders”:

  • tracksuit (T-shirt, sweatpants, etc.)
  • slippers, flip-flops, etc. (for the way from the changing room to the mat)
  • toiletries of your choice (we attach great importance to cleanliness and body hygiene, especially during training)

NOTE: First, we get to know each other. Only then you yourself (not parents/guardians, not friends and certainly not us) decide whether you feel comfortable with us and want to continue training with us. The same applies to us: We also decide whether a training session with us will start well.
