About Clemens Karwautz, assistant trainer

I started practicing Judo at the age of six under the guidance of Gerhard Bucina. I immediately enjoyed the rolling, the grappling, and the etiquette. However, it took me until 1998 to be introduced to Aikido.

Sensei Karlheinz Reiter created a perfect training atmosphere, and I am very grateful to all my fellow students from whom I learned at that time.

Once, infected by the “Aikido virus”, I began attending training sessions in Graz, Linz and Salzburg, organized by Günther Steger, Christoph Stöbich and Wolfgang Fürst, respectively. There, I had the opportunity to practice under the guidance of the renowned Senseis Nobuyoshi Tamura, Toshiro Suga, Malcolm Tiki Shewan and Jaff Raji, who helped me to find my path.

Creation of fundamentals
Furthermore, while travelling, I met and learned from Hans Goto (Bay Marin Aikido), Hiromichi Nagano (Yoshinkan München) and Tanguy Le Vourc’h (Aikido Brest), amongst others. The combination of comprehensive training at my former dojo, “Shobukan”, and intense summer sessions with Tamura Shihan and Yoshimitsu Yamada Sensei in Lesneven (France), formed the foundation of my Aikido practice.

In 2018, I met Fritz Schneeberger at an outdoor training session at Türkenschanzpark/Vienna. For me, he was a perfect fit. His lighthearted attitude, vast knowledge and exceptional teaching skills have allowed me to incorporate Aikido into my life.

As a co-trainer, I am excited to share this passion, experience, and joy of movement with everyone on the mat.
